Cookie policy

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that an internet browser stores on the user's device. Cookies do not harm the user's device or files. The use of cookies is common practice on most websites. Cookies are generally divided into session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies expire when the user stops using the web service; persistent cookies remain in the browser for a certain period or until the user deletes them. Cookies have two purposes. On the one hand, they make the website easier to use, for example by remembering the choices and settings the user has made. On the other hand, they help with developing the website and analysing usage data. Certain functions do not work without cookies.

How do we use cookies?

We use cookies on our website to improve the user experience, to collect data for marketing purposes and to develop our website. We also use cookies to optimise the speed of our website.

Website development

We use cookies to collect visitor statistics for the site and analyse the data. Among other things, we track which pages are visited and how long a visitor stays on each page. Our aim is to improve the quality and content of our site.

Marketing

Cookies allow us to show adverts and offers based on the user's activity on the website, regardless of whether they are logged in or not. We also use cookies in competition forms and customer surveys.

What types of cookies do we use?

Session cookies Session cookies expire when the user ends their session in the web service.

Persistent cookies A persistent cookie has a set retention period, i.e. a period of validity, which determines how long it remains on the computer or mobile device. Such cookies are retained until their period of validity ends or until they are deleted manually.

Third-party cookies Third-party cookies are cookies that another party places on the device on our behalf. This happens when a service provider provides services for us, such as analytics services or services that allow our pages to be shared on social media. For example, if you use buttons to share content online with your friends via social media such as Facebook, this third party may place cookies on your computer.

So-called third parties, such as advertisers, may also use and collect data gathered by means of cookies in order to target advertising.

In our online service we use, among other things, Google Analytics to measure the use of our online services (including IP address, device ID, physical location, browser, operator and operating system type and the related URLs).

More information on the Google Analytics terms can be found here.

How to manage cookies?

Users can clear cookies in their browser settings. Users can also block the use of cookies altogether by changing the browser settings on the device they use. Blocking cookies may affect the functionality of the service and the targeting of advertising. If a user blocks cookies, they may not be able to make full use of the online service. Most browsers allow the cookie function to be switched off.
